About the Oman Cardiology Society

The story of the Oman Cardiology Society began when the cardiology department at
The Sultanate conducts a regular scientific gathering under the name
Sultani Hospital Cardiology Club،
The first scientific meeting was held in the lecture hall of the Sultani Hospital.

However, it soon became clear that representing the specialty of cardiology at the level of Oman required
Outside of a single hospital, it was decided to change the name of the club to
Muscat Cardiology Club (Muscat Cardiology Club - MCC).

The Muscat Cardiology Club was officially born with the club's first scientific session
on April 3, 2003with speakers from the Royal Hospital.
Sultan Qaboos University, and Sohar and Sur hospitals.

The club's second scientific session was held on May 1, 2003،
The guest of honor was Dr. Bazdawi Al-Riyami, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at Sultan University
Qaboos at the time.

During the period from January 12-15, 2004The city of Muscat hosted
The second conference of the Gulf Heart Association, where the Muscat Cardiology Club was the
the organizer of this major scientific event, confirming its status as an unofficial representative
to specialize in cardiology in the Sultanate of Oman.

in a month December 2004A general assembly meeting was held, with
twenty doctors, to discuss the idea of establishing a
Oman Heart Association - OHA.
Among these doctors, the first board of directors of the association was formed as follows:

  • Dr. Kazem Jaafar Suleiman - Vice President
  • Dr. Maher Jaafar Al-Bahrani - Secretary General
  • Dr. Abdullah Amer Al-Riyami - Treasurer
  • Dr. Mohammed Khamis Al-Mukhaini - Member
  • Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Balushi - Member

The Omani Society of Cardiology was officially accredited on
March 17, 2007According to the decision of the Ministry of Social Development.
No. 37/2007.

Organized Twenty-two scientific sessions Under the umbrella of Muscat Cardiology Club.
These included joint scientific meetings with international organizations such as
Ottawa Heart Institute, University of Vienna, and Asian Heart Institute.

The club was also keen to include other local medical specialties in its scientific programs.
such as obstetrics and gynecology, endocrinology, anesthesiology, and neurology.

The first official scientific session was held on behalf of the Oman Cardiology Society
in November 2007.

And in the year 2008The association has taken an important step by launching programs

to different governorates of the Sultanate, and the first program of this kind was in
Sohar Province on December 25, 2008.

The society also organized advanced scientific courses in the fields of electrocardiography
(three cycles), cardiac computed tomography, transesophageal echocardiography, and transesophageal echocardiography.

on March 19, 2009The first official general assembly was held.

Based on the society's realization of its responsibility towards the community, the Omani Society
Cardiology seeks to implement multiple awareness programs to raise the level of awareness among members of the public.
